Grading Criteria

The Site Grade evaluates your website based on the following categories:

Structure: HTML document structure, semantic elements, and proper nesting

Accessibility: ARIA attributes, alt text, keyboard navigation, and semantic structure

SEO: Meta tags, canonical URLs, heading hierarchy, and robots directives

Best Practices: Viewport settings, character encoding, and avoiding deprecated elements

Performance: Resource loading, minification, lazy loading, and script placement

PWA: Web app manifest, theme color, service worker, and icons

Severity Weights

High Severity: -8 points

Medium Severity: -5 points

Low Severity: -3 points

Penalty Multipliers

Issues with multiple occurrences receive penalty multipliers based on frequency:

1-3 occurrences: 1x (no multiplier)
4-5 occurrences: 1.25x multiplier
6-8 occurrences: 1.5x multiplier
9-13 occurrences: 2x multiplier
14+ occurrences: 3x multiplier

For example, 10 instances of inline scripts would result in a 2x penalty multiplier, increasing the deduction from -5 points to -10 points.
